Word to the Wise:
Some thoughts for you in February 2012
To use a biblical reference, changing our ways from the ‘old’ to the ‘new’ is like leaving Egypt. When we leave ‘Egypt,’ it is important not to return. However the former habit feels familiar and because it is a habit, it is easier to use as our default mode. When we are in the early stages of practicing our newly formed habit it may take a lot of extra effort; the actions connected to it do not come as easily as the ‘old ways.’ As a result, we want to go back to what we know. It is important to remember at such times that the old comfort is actually bad for us and the new awkwardness takes us to better places.
"Change the way you are living and stop doing the things you are doing." Jer 7:5
